The portion of this tract not yet printed in Macalister's edition, includes the four poems ascribed to Amairgen, 12 b 39-13 b 13 (p. 49-52), viz. (1) Am gáeth i mmuir ; (2) Iascach muir ; (3) Fir torachta tunnidé ; (4) Ailiu íath n(.)Erend. These were ed., with transl., from Lc and BB by Owen Connellan in the Ossianic Soc. Trans. V, 1860 ; by R. Thurneysen, from LL, Laud 610, BB, in ' Mittelirische Verslehren ' ( Ir. Texte III. 61-63, 35-36, 1891), and No. 4 re-ed. in ZCP xvii, 270.

The principal MSS are Books of Lecan, Ballymote, D iv 1, D v 1, D i 3, the last three YBL proper, Leabar Breac. For particulars of these and others see Macalister, Pt I. The text has already been published in its entirety from our MS. by Ernst Windisch : ' Die altirische Heldensage Táin Bó Cúalnge nach dem Buch von Leinster, in Text tind Uebersetzung, mit einer Einleitung ', 92 + 1120 pp. Leipzig, 1905.

Windisch's monumental edition is based on the Royal Irish Academy's Facsimile, though the editor had also before him a transcript made from the original by Standish H. O'Grady. The Introduction (90 pp.) deals with the historical background of the saga, and contains a description of the principal manuscripts used in the critical establishment of the text; certain of these are cited in the present edition, e.g. Lebor na Huidre ( LU), Yellow Book of Lecan (Y), Brit. Mus. Egerton 1782 (Eg.), Stowe 984 (St), Brit. Mus. Additional 18748 (Add.) and Brit. Mus. Egerton 209 (Eg.²), Trin. Coll. H. 1. 13 and H. 2. 17. There is also a complete vocabulary.
