Irish-English Dictionary

19th cent. Paper. 19 × 15-15.5 cms. Pp. 2 (title-page with verso blank)+ 298 (with modern pencilled pagination)+ 4. No scribal signature. Dates 1812 (to pp. 205-6) and 1813 (from pp. 209-210 on) show in watermarks. Written in roman script, except that Irish script is generally used for synonyms, which are given occasionally; length-marks not inserted. P. 1 blackened and dirty as if exposed for a time (the first leaf, containing title-page, was inserted at binding). Pp. 102-3, 164-5 (for the letter H?) and last 5 pages blank. Bound in boards and blue paper, with white paper on spine. Number ‘164’ labelled on spine, which is also marked ‘Foclóir Gaoidhilge’; no. ‘27’ labelled on front cover. Words ‘Vocabulary from Antt. Mss—’ inside front cover.
