Anno Xri 1666.' It became part of the manuscript collection belonging to the Welsh antiquary Edward Lhuyd (1660-1709). Upon Lhuyd's death, his Celtic antiquities manuscript collection was bought at auction for £80 by Sir Thomas Sebright (1692-1736). TCD MS 1336 is almost entirely in Irish, excepting a brief note in Latin written in the 16th century. A volume made up of several distinct books or tracts of different sizes, MS 1336 is divided into 6 parts. The contents of the manuscript can be described as follows: (1) portions of the Seanchus Mór, (2) portions of the Seanchus Mór and legal tracts, (3) commentary on the Brehon Laws, (4) commentary on the Brehon Laws, proverbial, historical, and religious prose, genealogy, miscellanea including a tract on omens and visions of the night, charms for headaches and protection in battle, Fenian Cycle stories, the story of Cú Chulainn's shield, (5) a prayer written during the reign of Henry VIII, a poem about trees, and a tale called Fledh Bricinn, (6) mythology, tales, anecdotes and genealogies, includes Fenian Cycle stories, the blinding of Cormac Mac Airt, anecdotes involving Medb and Sadhbh, a history of Ireland's cemeteries, and a list of the famous women of antiquity.Is lámhscríbhinn cumaisc é seo ina bhfuil píosaí den Seanchus Mór, téacs ina bhfuil na Dlíthe Éireannacha a cuireadh le chéile tar éis theacht na Críostaíochta go hÉirinn.
