Collation: i8. Bound in paper cover, red with gold pattern, faded; upper two stab holes visible where stitching has disappeared; stitch-holes and traces of tacketing from an earlier binding. Single column, ruled in brown, 30–43 lines; traces of pricking for single column visible in upper and lower margins of several leaves (distinct in e.g. pp. 3–6) at level of top and bottom horizontal text-lines; first line of incipits in display script, pp.  (with elaborate initial) and 6; guide-letter `d' written in margin and space reserved for 5-line ornamental initial p. 6 but corresponding initial not filled in. Vellum defective, pp. 15–16; slight holes in outer margin of pp. 1–6, in upper inner corners of pp. 9–12, and in lower half of pp. 13–16; front and back pages stained, rubbed and worn with obscuring or loss of some letters, particularly at p. 1.4–5, 9–10, w–y, and at line-ends in p. 16.1–10.

Treatise evidently comprises four distinct parts, as follows: [i] pp. 6.33–10.8 and 10.25–7, corresponding to ms 1436, pp. 117a1–120a20 and 120a20–28, respectively, i.e. to part [iii] of the compilation entitled `An leabhar cneadh': see 1436, p. 113 above [account of 1436 forthcoming]; [ii] p. 10.8–24 (beg. Deoch arnemh cuisleann annso .i. macall 7 caegma bithnua 7 slan lus, p. 10.8), a set of seven receipts for a suppurating vein, six of which occur at 1436, p. 111.1–8, where they comprise an independent collection: see 1436, p. 111 above [account of 1436 forthcoming]; [iii] pp. 10.w–11.22 (beg. Uinnimint [? crecht; ms cr\=s] annso .i. calmint 7 puliél ruidél 7 bitóine, p. 10.27), a set of three receipts for the wounded; and [iv] p. 11.13–22 (beg.
