TALES

18th cent. Paper. 18.5 x 13 cms. Pp. 8+2 (blank leaf with label on verso) + 152 (numbered in pencil)+2 (blank)+8. Leaves cut out after first 8 pp. and before last 8 pp. Scribe: Séamas Ó Murchadha, 1780 (pp. 108, 152 i). No cover; spine held by three strips of vellum, with some words of Latin in middle one and top one labelled ‘29’ in front. The pages at beginning and end contain arithmetical and navigational calculations and (apparently) some writing-practice, with loss of text due to trimming to size of remainder of manuscript. Blank leaf at beginning bears on verso a slip of blue paper (c. 4 x 10.5 cms) with ‘6 / Curious Tale of Gulls daughter, / and the Branch of Cormac’ (in O’Curry’s hand).
